Who is Julius Malema, South African politician calling to kill white people

Elon Musk on Sunday called for immediate sanctions against South African political leader Julius Malema and to declare him an international criminal.

The billionaire requested this after the South African politician during a speech said to commit violence against white men and women.

“These people, when you want to hit them hard, go after a white man. They feel terrible pain because you have touched a white man. We're cutting the throat of whiteness. We will kill white women, children, and their pets," he said.


Julius Malema, who heads the far-left Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party in South Africa, sparked controversy last year by leading the "Kill the Boer" chant during his party's 10th anniversary celebrations.

He was the president of the African National Congress Youth League from 2008 to 2012, followed by his role in establishing and leading the Economic Freedom Fighters in 2013. He secured a position as an MP in the National Assembly in 2014.
