​9/11, deadliest US attack

The September 11 attacks, known as 9/11, were a series of coordinated terrorist attacks by al-Qaeda in 2001. Nineteen terrorists hijacked four planes intended for cross-country flights. Two planes were flown into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, while a third hit the Pentagon near Washington, DC.
