The route

The march began at 1 pm at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dallas, moving along Ross Avenue, Griffin Street, Commerce Street, and North Harwood Street before concluding at Dallas City Hall on Young Street. (X/cbs11ken)

Politicians join

The demonstration in Dallas drew support from local and state politicians. Congressman Al Green of Houston told NBC 5 that he was impressed by the large turnout and the community’s dedication to immigration reform. (X/cbs11ken)

Dallas’ history of protests

The ‘Mega march’ has a long history in Dallas. In 2006, an estimated 500,000 people participated in what organisers called Texas’ largest civil rights demonstration. In May 2010, around 20,000 people marched for immigration reform. (X/marc_parasciano)
