According to ABC News senior congressional correspondent Rachel Scott, the former president claimed no knowledge of the performer who delivered numerous offensive and discriminatory remarks during the event.

Hinchcliffe gained notoriety for his inflammatory statement describing Puerto Rico as an "island of floating garbage."

"I don't know him, someone put him up there. I don't know who he is," Trump said in his exchange with Scott.

Despite widespread media coverage of the comments across television and print, Trump maintained he hadn't heard the remarks.

When questioned about his position on the statements, he avoided condemnation and reiterated his claim of not hearing them.
