After US President-elect Donald Trump has announced Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk will lead the 'Department of Government Efficiency' (DOGE) alongside American entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, Musk posted a series of tweets.

Minutes after announcement, Trump said, ""Threat to democracy? Nope, threat to BUREAUCRACY!!!"

In another post, he said, "All actions of the Department of Government Efficiency will be posted online for maximum transparency. Anytime the public thinks we are cutting something important or not cutting something wasteful, just let us know! We will also have a leaderboard for most insanely dumb spending of your tax dollars. This will be both extremely tragic and extremely entertaining."

Meanwhile, Ramaswamy tagging Musk in a post on X which read, “We Will Not Go Gently, @elonmusk.”

Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies - Essential to the 'Save America' Movement," Trump said in a statement while making the announcement.

This comes after Former President Donald Trump revealed plans to appoint a "secretary of cost-cutting" if he returns to office. In an October interview with Fox News, Trump stated his intention to reduce the size of the government.

He specifically mentioned deferring to Elon Musk's judgment on shutting down agencies.

"Will Not Go Gently, @elonmusk,” stated Trump during the interview.

"I’m going to have Elon Musk — he is dying to do this. You know, he’s a great business guy, actually. You think of him for science and rockets. And every time I think he’s telling me about a new screw that was developed, he’s developed a new screw — screws are difficult — and it’s made out of titanium, and it’s so exciting. But you know what? He’s a great business guy, and he’s a great cost-cutter. You’ve seen that. And he said: I could cut costs without affecting anybody," he said.
