The incoming president's company, the Trump organisation, is exploring various possibilities, including a licensing arrangement or potentially repurchasing the lease for the historic Old Post Office building, which is government-owned and 125 years old, according to three sources with knowledge of the matter.

Eric Trump stated exclusively to The Post, "Our family has saved the hotel once. If asked, we would save it again."

The prestigious establishment at 1100 Pennsylvania Ave., situated near the White House, became a popular venue for Republican affiliates, DC lobbyists and fundraising events after its inauguration in 2016.

Initial financial records from the FEC indicate Republican organisations spent $266K at the venue in the first half-year of operations.

An insider revealed that patronage declined after Hilton assumed management of the Waldorf brand and Trump's association with the hotel ceased.

The establishment features 263 accommodation units, including 35 luxury suites and an expansive 6,300 square-foot two-storey townhouse with separate entry.

According to sources, the final decision regarding whether the Trump Organisation would seek complete control through lease repurchase or opt for a licensing arrangement remains pending.

Sources associated with the property indicate the president-elect is considering hospitality investments in the DC region, though no formal communication has occurred between the Trump organisation and the Waldorf Astoria.
The historic building, constructed in Classical Revival architecture, offers rooms starting at approximately $600 nightly.

A potential acquisition raises questions about the future of the Bazaar restaurant, operated by Jose Andres, a Democratic supporter and critic of Trump.

The November 2021 agreement with CGI Merchant Group placed Hilton in charge of operations. However, BTD & MSD Partners acquired the leasehold rights for $100 million at a foreclosure auction after CGI defaulted on its $285 million loan due to rising interest rates.
