Beacon, a 4-year-old golden retriever, has captured the hearts of the US gymnastics team, earning the title of MVP — or "Most Valuable Pup." Beacon has played a significant role in the team's preparations for the Olympics, offering comfort and support during training and trials.

As a therapy dog trained to provide cuddles and ease nerves, Beacon was often seen at the side of gymnasts, including Olympic medalist Suni Lee. Lee shared her gratitude on Instagram, saying, "thank god for beacon," and showcased Beacon’s badge, which read "goodest boy."

Handler Tracey Callahan Molnar expressed her joy in seeing Beacon bring happiness to others, stating, "It's such a joy for me to see him happy and to see the joy that he gives other people."

The US gymnastics team has focused on prioritising emotional wellness, a focus that gained prominence after Simone Biles withdrew from the 2020 Tokyo Games due to mental health concerns. Although Beacon will not be traveling with the team to Paris, his handler sent a supportive video to the gymnasts. In the video, Callahan Molnar asked Beacon what he wanted to say to the team, to which he responded with an enthusiastic bark. Asher Hong interpreted Beacon’s bark as a spirited "Go Team USA!"

The women's team responded with cheers, "We love you Beacon!" highlighting the special bond between the team and their beloved therapy dog.
