What is White House press secretary's least liked news outlet? Here's what Leavitt answered in special briefing
Karoline Leavitt, Press Secretary at the White House, held a special briefing to mark ‘take your child to work day’ on Tuesday. She was overloaded with questions from the child reporters whose parents are official staff and journalists.
The kids got to know many unknown things about US President Donald Trump- that he likes to hug and enjoys sweets and desserts.
Among the youngsters in attendance was Leavitt’s own 10-month-old son, Niko.
The room frequently broke into laughter as the kids tackled some unexpectedly tricky topics — including one boy who asked Leavitt to name the president’s favorite child, and another who pressed her on which news outlet she liked the least.
“Depends on the day,” the press secretary replied to both, keeping the tone light.
One child asked,”how much candy does he eat a day?”, to which Leavitt replied,”a good amount of candy, he liked pink starbusts and tootsie rolls.”
Another child was curious about Trump’s go-to order at McDonald’s.
“He loves McDonald’s hamburgers and French fries — who doesn’t?” Leavitt replied, before revealing that the president’s actual favorite meal isn’t on the McDonald’s menu.
“President Trump enjoys a variety of foods, but I’d say his favorite is probably steak,” the press secretary said.
Trump’s well-known preference for well-done steak served with ketchup has been both a curiosity and a culinary controversy since his 2016 campaign.
The briefing room was about half-full, with 49 seats occupied mostly by children — from babies to preteens — while proud parents watched from the side aisles and the back of the room.
The White House handed the mic to its youngest visitors, letting them ask the kinds of questions adults usually avoid and the answers delivered plenty of smiles.
Elsewhere, President Trump made a lighthearted appearance of his own, joining a group of children for a playful dance outside the White House. A video of the moment was later shared on social media by a staffer.
