LAHORE: Indian captain Sourav Ganguly injured his lower back while trying to stop a scorching drive off his counterpart Inzamam-ul Haq during the fifth and final One-day International at Qadaffi Stadium here on Wednesday.

LAHORE: Indian captain Sourav Ganguly injured his lower back while trying to stop a scorching drive off his counterpart Inzamam-ul Haq during the fifth and final One-day International at Qadaffi Stadium here on Wednesday. Team manager Ratnakar Shetty informed the reporters here that: Ganguly was in severe pain and the team physiotherapist Andrew Leipus was treating upon him.
As of now, he has not been taken to the hospital. Inzamam hit a powerful off-drive and Ganguly fielding at midoff dived full length to cut that off. In the process he tumbled once which is seen as the likely cause of the injury. Ganguly is expected to consult a doctor late in the night or early morning.
