Ajay Devgn: 10 reasons why we love the actor

Action-He's the original stuntman of Bollywood. An Ajay Devgn film without some action in it cannot be imagined! Barring his few comedy films, the actor has done some high octane stunt sequences that leave us breathless. Whether it was standing on two bikes or standing on two horses, Ajay has raised the bar high. His latest film, Singham returns also has action sequences never seen before in Bollywood. According to a report in Bollywoodlife.com, a source close to the team of Singham Returns was quoted saying, “Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty have given us some out of the box stunts in all their movies. In fact, in Singham Returns Ajay sir has done some very unique and different stunts this time in his signature style and we are sure that it will definitely be a treat for all the fans! Ajay Sir has lot many action sequences with the guns. And the way he got hit by the door of a jeep in one of the sequences is also seen in the trailer and has raised the curiosity level even more amongst the people!”

Family man- Ajay meet his wife Kajol on the sets of Hulchul but only started dating on their second film Gunda Raj. They were termed as an unlikely couple due to their contrasting personalities. According to an interview in The Tribune, Devgn was quoted saying, "We never resorted to the usual 'I Love you,' routine. A proposal never happened. We grew with each other. Marriage was never discussed, but it was always imminent." He has two kids with Kajol; Daughter Nysa and son Yug. He's a family who dotes on them and is said to be a good father. Ajay seems to prefer the company of his family more than industry friends.

Prankster- Don't go by the serious look on his face. The actor is known to pull a lot of pranks on his co stars. According to a report in India Today, Ajay along with director Rohit Shetty played a prank on the sets of Singham Returns. The entire prank was planned in advance, taking a spot boy into confidence and fooling the crew members that the set was haunted. Further to reports in India Today, a source from the production team was quoted saying, "Ajay Sir and Rohit Sir have been constant pranksters on sets. Once, they baffled and scared all of us by dressing up a spot boy in white clothes and making him behave like a ghost! Also they always tried to scare us by telling stories of ghosts." This is only one of the pranks that Ajay ahs played and all his co stars are well prepared in advance for funny things to happen on set!

Down to earth- Never will you see actor Ajay Devgn flaunt his status or throw his attitude in the face. In spite of being in the industry for over two decades, Ajay Devgn has always maintained a low profile and seems to love his privacy! Unlike many other stars who are publicity hungry, Ajay has kept his life very private and personal and this is one of the reasons why he was missing from social media for the longest. He's a cool dude and fame certainly has not gotten to his head. He's still one of the grounded actors around in Bollywood and this is certainly one reason why he becomes even more appealing.

Good friend- Ajay Devgn has few friends in Bollywood but is a true friend. One reason 3 of Koffee with Karan, host Karan Johar said that people from the industry spoke highly of Ajay Devgn as a friend, including Abhishek Bachchan. The actor shares a good rapport with Sanjay Dutt, with whom he has done a few films and Salman Khan (the two shared screen space in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam). Of late, he seems to have even patched up with SRK, after their debacle in 2012, when the latter reached the sets of Singham Returns and the two hugged. On the show KWK 3, Ajay even said that his friends from the industry know that he does not like to hang out post work but if they ever need him, he's always there.

Doting father- Ajay has two children: a son named Yug and daughter Nysa. The actor appears to be a doting father and is often clicked with his children. In this video, a cute Yug is seen accompanying his father on the sets of Himmatwala and son Yug also seems to be crazy about his dad Ajay and looks up to him. According to a report in The Times of India, Devgn Junior, keeps repeating the line 'Aata majhi satakli' from the film Singham. Further to the report, Yug often amuses himself by asking his father to say 'Aata majhi satakli'; so that he can promptly quip, 'Mala raag yeto aahe'.

Steers clear of gossip- Ajay Devgn has never really been controversy's favourite child. He is known to be private person and unlike other celebs who take every opportunity to greet their fans, Ajay prefers to keep a stance. Not only that, the actor is usually in the news for his films, unlike other B-town celebs. In spite of his wife Kajol being good friends with TV host, producer, director Karan Johar, Ajay initially stayed away from KJo's talk show Koffee with Karan and appeared only on the 3rd season where he was candid and frank. Ajay is a professional and rarely makes it to gossip magazines. One of the reasons why we like him!

Stands up for rights- His wife Kajol might be Shahrukh Khan's friend and was once a favourite at YRF, but that did not stop Ajay Devgn from taking a stand against the badshah and his film Jab Tak Hain Jaan, a YRF production, that clashed with his Son of Sardaar, both which released during Diwali in 2012. Ajay was miffed that SRK's film had booked maximum theatres, not leaving too much scope for his film to release. Things took an ugly turn when Kajol was not invited for the premiere of JTHJ. According to a report in The Times of India, after the Jab Tak Hai Jaan vs Son of Sardaar debacle, Ajay Devgn too was not on friendly terms with him and even offered his help to Ekta Kapoor after the producer was miffed with Shah Rukh over his un professionalism. We like a man who believes in standing up for his rights!

Comedy- Known for his action and stunt sequences and intensity, Devgn surprised one and al when he played a comic role in the Golmaal series: Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, Golmaal Returns, Golmaal 3 and Bol Bachchan. This came a rare treat for Ajay Devgn fans who were used to high voltage action, not to forget those brooding eyes. Ajay's Golmaal series was a huge success at the box office and even in Bol Bachchan, where he plays the powerful Prithviraj Raghuvanshi. Ajay's attempt at translating Hindi idioms into English were funny and fans surely appreciated it. Though his comic timing might be as good as that of his contemporaries like Saif, we can say that comedy is certainly Ajay's plus point.

Intense acting- A versatile actor, Ajay Devgn never ceases to surprise his fans. The suave actor, known for performances in films like Diljale, Gangajal, Apharan, Zakhm and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam proves once again that intense acting is one of his many fortes. In Hum Dill De Chuke Sanam, Ajay plays Aishwarya's husband who does not receive the love of his wife, who is in love with Salman Khan. Ajay bowled everyone over with this film. Even in Zakhm, Ajay walked away with all the accolades including the National Award. Khakee , The Legend of Bhagat Singh and Omkara are other films that prove Devgn's intensity as an actor.
