Hyundai Verna facelift vs Old Verna: Features, specs, key changes explained
Hyundai Motor India has just launched the new 2026 Hyundai Verna facelift in the Indian market. This marks the first facelift for the sedan since it was launched in 2023, with cosmetic upgrades, new features, added safety, and more. Interested customers can book the sedan online or at their nearest dealership; deliveries are expected to begin soon. The sedan continues to compete with the Honda City, VW Virtus and Skoda Slavia. In this article, let’s take a look at what the 2026 Verna offers when compared to the old one.
Price, Variants
Talking about the price and variants first, the updated Verna is priced between Rs 10.98 lakh and Rs 18.25 lakh (ex-showroom). With the revision, the base variant is costlier by Rs 18,000, while the top variant is priced about Rs 1.1 lakh higher than earlier. Hyundai has also revised the variant naming to HX2, HX4, HX6, HX6+, HX8 and HX10. The previous Verna was offered in four variants - EX, S, SX and SX(O).
Design differences
The 2026 Hyundai Verna receives minor styling updates compared to the outgoing model. The overall silhouette remains the same and is based on the K3 platform. At the front, it features a dark chrome grille and revised LED headlamps. The front bumper has also been updated with more defined detailing along the outer edges and the lower section. Hyundai has also introduced a new design for the 16-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the connected tail-lamps and boot-mounted spoiler remain unchanged. However, the bumper has been redesigned and now includes silver trim and a diffuser element at the bottom. Two new exterior colours, Classy Blue and Titan Grey Matte, have also been introduced.
Interior and features
Moving inside, the overall layout is still the same and continues with a dual-tone black-and-white interior, while the turbo-petrol variants keep the all-black theme. The twin 10.25-inch displays have been carried over, though the digital instrument cluster now features updated graphics. Hyundai has also introduced a new three-spoke steering wheel with the brand’s Morse Code ‘H’ logo, similar to the design used on the Venue and Ioniq 5. The updated Verna also adds new convenience features such as a powered front passenger seat, memory function for the driver’s seat and a boss mode for the front passenger seat, which allows rear occupants to move the seat forward. Hyundai has also added a 360-degree camera and seven airbags on the top variant, compared to six earlier, which is a segment-first among its rivals. Other features include dual 10.25-inch screens, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, Bose speakers, a surround-view camera, a Level-2 ADAS suite, ventilated front seats, an eight-speaker Bose sound system and a blind-spot monitor.
Engine options
Mechanically, the updated Verna remains the same as before and continues to be offered with two engine options - a 115 hp, 1.5 litre NA petrol with a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic. Another engine option is a 160 hp, 1.5-litre turbo petrol with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT.
