Next-Gen Hyundai i20 teased again: New interior detail revealed
Korean Automaker Hyundai has once again teased the next-generation Hyundai i20 hatchback, revealing design details of the hatchback’s interior ahead of its global debut. The latest teaser has revealed more details about the next-generation i20’s interior, including a new integrated display that combines the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster into a single panel. The screen is expected to measure around 12.3 inches with Hyundai Bluelink connected car features, wireless smartphone connectivity and the rear-view camera display.
The teaser also confirms the use of touch-sensitive climate control, replacing conventional physical switches. The updated cabin layout points to a greater emphasis on digital interfaces and connected technology. Many of these features have already been introduced on newer Hyundai models such as the Venue and Verna. Their inclusion in the upcoming i20 suggests the hatchback will adopt a cabin design and technology package aligned with the brand’s latest products.
A teaser released earlier confirmed a new connected lighting setup at both the front and rear, marking a major styling shift for the model. At the front, the new i20 features a full-width LED light bar linking Y-shaped daytime running lamps positioned at either end. The main headlamp units are placed lower on the bumper, giving the hatchback a more distinctive lighting signature. The rear adopts a similar approach with connected LED tail-lamps linked by a light strip, while boomerang-shaped lighting elements add to the updated design.
Compared to the current model, the next-generation i20 appears more upright and angular, with sharper body lines and a less rounded profile. Other changes will include redesigned alloy wheels, updated bumpers and a more vertical front-end treatment. While Hyundai has yet to reveal the cabin, it’s expected to feature a completely redesigned dashboard. Expected features include a dual-screen layout for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, a redesigned dashboard, updated upholstery, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS.
Internationally, the new i20 may gain hybrid powertrain options. In India, the existing engine line-up is expected to continue. The standard model is likely to retain the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 83PS with the manual gearbox and 88PS with the iVT automatic. The i20 N Line is expected to continue with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that develops 120PS and 172Nm, paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The fourth-generation i20 is expected to make its global debut during the 2026 FIFA World Cup and will introduce one of the most significant design updates seen on the hatchback to date.
