Tata Altroz CNG AMT launched: Price, efficiency & more
Tata Motors has just launched the new Tata Altroz CNG with AMT gearbox in the Indian market. With this update, the Altroz becomes the only hatchback in its segment to offer an AMT gearbox paired with a CNG powertrain. Interested customers can book the Altroz CNG AMT online or at their nearest dealership. Deliveries are expected to begin soon. It continues to compete with the Hyundai i20, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, and the Toyota Glanza.
The Tata Altroz CNG AMT is offered in five variants- Pure, Pure S, Creative, Creative S, Accomplished S and prices range between 8.70 lakh to Rs 10.77 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). The CNG version of the Tata Altroz offers a 210-litre boot with twin-cylinder technology, lower than the 345-litre luggage capacity available in the petrol and diesel variants.
Talking about the powertrain, it’s powered by the same 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine, which puts out 88hp of power and 115Nm torque. In CNG mode, this engine produces 73.5hp and 103Nm. The 5-speed AMT gearbox offered with the CNG version is the same transmission unit already available in the petrol variants of the Tata Altroz.
In terms of features, the Altroz CNG AMT gets six airbags, and an electronic stability program, 16-inch machine-cut alloys, LED fog lights, a connecting LED light bar at the rear, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a sunroof with voice commands, a fast-charging wireless mobile charger, a 360-degree camera setup, LED daytime running lamps, ambient cabin lighting, rear AC vents, push-button start/stop, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support and more.
Mr Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “The Altroz has consistently set benchmarks in the premium hatchback segment through its strong focus on design, safety and powertrain choice. CNG is the fastest-growing fuel choice in the country, with 19% penetration in FY25 and 22% in FY26, and this growth is no longer limited to traditional markets, with new regions contributing significantly to adoption. With the introduction of AMT in the iCNG line-up, we are addressing a clear and growing customer need for greater convenience in CNG vehicles. This addition makes Altroz the most versatile and premium offering in its segment, delivering the right balance of efficiency, ease of driving and everyday practicality, without compromising on space or safety."
