Gold Price Today Live: ’Near-term trend appears volatile’

“Gold opened weak near ₹1,54,500 following CME prices slipping below the $5,000 mark, reflecting cautious sentiment in early trade. However, recovery in international prices towards $5,010 supported a rebound in MCX Gold, which climbed back to around ₹1,55,500. The near-term trend appears volatile, with price action likely to remain range-bound between ₹1,52,000 and ₹1,57,000 over the next few sessions as participants track global cues and dollar movement,” says Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst - Commodity and Currency, LKP Securities.

Silver Price Today Live: Silver down to Rs 2.5 lakh per kg

Silver prices dropped by 2 per cent to Rs 2.5 lakh per kilogram in the national capital on Monday, while gold recorded a gain of Rs 700 per 10 grams.

Data from the All India Sarafa Association showed that silver fell by Rs 5,000, or 1.96 per cent, to Rs 2,50,000 per kilogram, inclusive of all taxes, compared with Rs 2,55,000 per kg in the previous session on Friday.

In contrast, gold of 99.9 per cent purity climbed Rs 700 to Rs 1,59,200 per 10 grams, inclusive of all taxes, up from Rs 1,58,500 per 10 grams at the last close.
"Silver began the week on a softer note, as investors booked profits after the weekend's rally. However, ongoing central bank purchases, heightened safe-haven demand amid the correction in tech and AI stocks, and a weaker dollar index have helped cushion the downside," Gaurvav Garg, Research Analyst, Lemonn Markets Desk, said.

Silver Rate Today Live: Silver future decline 2%

Silver futures tumbled close to 2 per cent on Monday, slipping to around Rs 2.4 lakh per kilogram, mirroring weakness in overseas markets and muted buying interest in the domestic physical segment.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the March silver contract dropped by Rs 3,630, or 1.49 per cent, to settle at Rs 2,40,730 per kilogram, with a traded volume of 5,803 lots.

Globally, silver futures for March delivery on the Comex in New York were quoted 1.45 per cent lower at USD 76.83 per ounce.

According to Jigar Trivedi, Senior Research Analyst at IndusInd Securities, the metal retreated by over 1 per cent toward the USD 76 per ounce level, giving up gains recorded in the previous session, as participation remained limited amid holidays in the US, China and other countries.

Gold pushed back above $5000 after weaker-than-expected US inflation reinforced expectations of Fed easing, driving the 10-year US Treasury yield lower and prompting market participants to price nearly 50% odds of a third rate cut by December. Headline CPI rose 2.4% year-on-year in January v/s estimates of 2.5% and December’s 2.7%, while monthly inflation print was also report 0.1% lower than estimates. Recent comments from Kevin Warsh signaling a preference for lower policy rates add to expectations of two 25bp cuts in March and June, which would further compress real yields and support gold inflows.

Geopolitical risks remain elevated, with reports of Washington deploying the USS Gerald R. Ford to the Middle East amid stalled Iran nuclear talks boosting safe-haven demand. Meanwhile, markets are increasingly focused on the potential inflationary impact of renewed tariff threats from Trump, alongside lingering questions over Fed credibility.

Notably, gold is trading at a discount for the first time in nearly a month even as Chinese demand strengthens, with Shanghai warehouse stocks crossing 100 tonnes, highlighting robust physical buying interest. Today US markets remains shut on the back of Presidents day holiday and China’s market remains shut for a week amidst lunar new year holiday. Focus this will be on US PCE price index and FOMC meeting minutes, says Manav Modi Commodities Analyst Motilal Oswal Financial services Ltd.

Gold Rate Today Live: Slightly lower as Iran talks take centre stage

Spot gold is currently trading with a loss of around 0.60% at $5005 as investors monitor US-Iran talks.

"Indirect" Iran-US nuclear talks mediated by Oman will be held on Tuesday. Of late, the US president Trump has been repeatedly warning Iran over its nuclear program.

The annual inflation rate in the US slowed to 2.4% in January 2026, its lowest level since May. The January CPI was below the 2.7% in the previous two months and was short of forecast of 2.5%. Although the data was short of expectations and on soft side, rate cut in March is mostly unlikely.

Gold is expected to range trade with a downward bias. Resistance is at $5050/$5125. Support is at $4900, says Praveen Singh, Head of commodities, Mirae Asset ShareKhan.

Gold Price Today Live: Gold, silver futures decline

Gold and silver futures witnessed a sharp decline at the opening of trade on Monday on the Multi Commodity Exchange as investors moved to book profits after the strong gains recorded in the previous session.

April 2026 gold futures on the MCX were trading lower by Rs 1,000, or 0.64%, at Rs 1,54,905 per 10 grams. Silver futures for delivery on March 5, 2026 also weakened, falling by Rs 8,265, or 3.3%, to Rs 2,36,100 per kg.

In overseas markets, spot gold slipped 0.4% to $5,020.10 per ounce as of 0111 GMT, after advancing 2.5% in the earlier session. U.S. gold futures for April delivery declined marginally by 0.1% to $5,039.50 per ounce. Spot silver eased 0.6% to $76.92 per ounce, following a 3% gain on Friday.

Silver Price Today Live: Silver, gold ETFs drop up to 7%

Silver and gold exchange-traded funds declined by as much as 7% on Monday as investors chose to lock in gains following the sharp surge seen on Friday. Gold and silver futures traded on the MCX also began the session with notable losses.

Among the key schemes, Kotak Silver ETF recorded the steepest fall, dropping nearly 7% to touch an intraday low of Rs 220. Mirae Asset Silver ETF slipped about 5%, while silver ETFs offered by DSP, SBI, Nippon India, Edelweiss and ICICI Prudential registered declines of up to 4% each.

Motilal Oswal Gold ETF also came under pressure, falling roughly 4% to an intraday low of Rs 145 on Monday. Zerodha Gold ETF followed with a similar decline of around 4%, while Choice Gold ETF and HDFC Gold ETF each eased by about 2%.

Silver Price Today Live: Corrections in industrial metals

Pranav Mer of JM Financial Services Ltd observed that silver experienced heightened fluctuations during last week, with prices moving in both directions and investors booking profits at elevated levels from time to time.

"The white metal was weighed by corrections in industrial metals and profit-booking after failing to breach key technical resistance. It also faced pressure from the tech-led global equity sell-off, which reduced risk appetite across asset classes," he added.

Analysts noted that purchases by central banks, increased safe-haven demand following the sharp correction in technology and AI-related stocks across global markets, and a weaker dollar index have so far helped provide support to bullion prices.

Gold Price Today Live: Mixed cues for traders

Last week, in overseas trade, Comex gold futures advanced by USD 84, registering a gain of 1.7 per cent, while silver inched higher to settle at USD 77.27 per ounce.

"Gold prices see-sawed between gains and losses for most part of the trading session, but managed to close the week in positive and above USD 5,000 per ounce in the overseas market.

"The bullions are passing through a phase of consolidation amid lack of clarity among traders as they remain divided over the price direction and look for fresh fundamental triggers," Pranav Mer, Vice President, EBG, Commodity & Currency Research, JM Financial Services Ltd said.

Gold Price Today Live: ’Safe haven appeal remains intact’

"Gold prices have fallen in February 2026, with prices correcting from highs of Rs 1,80,000 per 10 grams to around Rs 1,53,800 per 10 grams as on February 13," Prathamesh Mallya, DVP - Research, Non-Agri Commodities and Currencies at Angel One, said.

He noted that better-than-anticipated employment data from the United States has tempered expectations of near-term interest rate reductions, which has weighed on gold prices over the past week.

"However, the yellow metal's safe haven appeal remains intact on account of geopolitical tensions, and strong buying ahead of the Lunar New Year. It's a tug of war between bears and bulls this week, and the volatility will continue in the week ahead," Mallya added.

In the local derivatives market, silver contracts traded on the Multi Commodity Exchange recorded a weekly decline of Rs 5,532, which is a fall of 2.2 per cent. In contrast, gold futures posted a modest gain of Rs 444, or 0.3 per cent, over the same timeframe.

At that time, silver had crossed the Rs 4 lakh per kg mark and gold was on its way to hit the Rs 2 lakh per 10 gram milestone. However, uncertainty around rate cuts by the US Federal Reserve, US President Donald Trump’s pick of the new US Federal Reserve chief who is known to be an inflation hawk, and profit booking at higher levels caused prices to plunge. Since then, gold and silver have recovered but prices remain volatile and continue to face resistance at marginally higher levels.
