4 saffron party workers injured in BJP-Tipra Motha fight

4 saffron party workers injured in BJP-Tipra Motha fight
Agartala: A fight between two alliance partners – BJP and TIPRA Motha — in West Tripura’s Mandai on Saturday left at least four saffron party supporters injured, sparking serious resentment among BJP workers ahead of the two-phase Lok Sabha polls in the state scheduled on April 19 and 26.
BJP mandal president of Mandai, Ajit Debbarma, alleged that a large number of Motha supporters joined the saffron party on Saturday despite objections from their local leaders, who were also against the opening of an election office of BJP in the area, which led to the dispute.

Towards the end of a meeting of the ruling party in a house in Mandai assembly constituency in the evening, some Motha miscreants attacked the BJP supporters in which four were injured, BJP leaders said.
Following the incident, the leaders of both parties held discussions in the presence of police. Nobody has been arrested yet, but a large number of security forces was deployed in the area to maintain peace.
Two of the injured, identified as Jadu Debbarma (32) and Ajay Debbarma (39), brothers from a family in Chandra Kamal Para, were admitted to Jirania hospital. The others were discharged from Mandai primary health centre after first aid.
A month ago, TIPRA Motha founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarma joined the BJP after hectic parleys with the party’s top brass in New Delhi. Soon after, BJP made his elder sister, Kriti Singh Debbarma from Chhattisgarh, its nominee for East Tripura (tribal reserved) constituency, ruffling quite a few feathers within and outside BJP.
