Jamiat decries attack on minorities in B’desh
Agartala: The Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind, a prominent Islamic organisation, on Monday denounced the recent incidents of violence and attacks targeting minority Hindus, Buddhists and Christians in Bangladesh, which have sparked a serious reaction in Tripura.
In response to the events in Bangladesh, various political parties in Tripura organised rallies and solidarity marches, demanding Centre’s intervention against the interim administration of Bangladesh.

TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarman, a ruling BJP ally in state govt, even warned of carving out a separate country from Bangladesh’s territory to protect the minorities.
On Sunday, a large gathering of intellectuals and social activists in Agartala held a solidarity rally and submitted a memorandum to PM Modi through governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, urging India’s intervention to ensure the safety of minorities in Bangladesh. Following this, the Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind released a statement demanding action against the perpetrators.
Mufti Taibur Rahman, president of the state chapter of Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind, strongly condemned the recent violence against religious minorities in Bangladesh’s Khagrachari district. “The atrocities faced by minorities in Bangladesh are unacceptable. Islam does not support violence. These recent events are deeply condemnable,” Rahman said.
