Tripura housewife ‘hangs self’ after lover posts her photos online

AGARTALA: Police on Saturday launched an investigation into the alleged suicide of a housewife a day earlier, reportedly after her paramour posted some of their intimate photos online. She was found hanging at home in Durjoynagar area of the city under Airport PS.
No arrest was made but police have been questioning a couple of people, including the woman’s friend and her family members.Her parents’ statements have been recorded, a police officer said.
Sources said the woman had developed an extra-marital relationship with a man of the same locality after her marriage. The man had click some photographs of their intimate moments when she was trying to come out of the relationship, they added. The accused had put out the pictures on social media. The possibility of the woman taking her life fearing social stigma cannot be ruled out. Her husband lodged a complaint against the accused for defaming her and for abetment to suicide, police added.
