Tripura man arrested for killing wife

AGARTALA: A naik subedar of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and a woman from Dharmanagar were arrested by Tripura Police's CID sleuths on Sunday for killing the man's wife last year.
SP (CID) Sanjoy Roy said the accused, Ranbir Das, had strangled his wife Chayanika Banik (24) to death in October last year. He had then dumped the body in the septic tank of his house at Kumarghat.It had been a month since Ranbir and Chayanika had married.
After marriage, Chayanika had been sent to her in-laws' house so she could continue her studies. During this time, Ranbir got involved with another woman. "When Chayanika learnt of her husband's illicit relations, she returned home. That night, Ranbir and the woman, identified as Archana Malakar (35) killed her and dumped the body," Roy said. A missing diary was registered but police could not retrieve any clues. The case was then referred to the CID for investigation early this year. The CID looked into Ranbir's relations with Archana.
