Agartala: The verification of records and identification of the credentials of the forest and patta land encroachers have been going on at Manumanpui forest of Kanchanpur, the eastern border of the state with neighbouring
Mizoram for the last three days, a senior official of North Tripura district administration told TOI on Monday.
“There is no report of any fresh encroachment of forest after CM Manik Saha held a meeting with the administration on the demand of surrendered extremists last week and directed them not to go for eviction until the identification of the encroachers is not completed,” the officer stated.
“So far, 300 people have submitted their claims as surrendered militants and 300 more are waiting for submission. After getting their full details, the police will verify the claims and accordingly the government will decide the next course of action. But we made it clear to them that the CM is in favour of delivering justice to the deprived people as per law,” an official said.
