Agra: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has formed a two-member committee to investigate the alleged incident of tying up of hands and legs of two patients at the emergency ward of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC).
AMU's vice-chancellor Tariq Mansoor has asked the two-member committee, comprising professors Shahid Siddiqui of the department of radiology and Asif Ali of the department of biochemistry, to submit its report within 72 hours.

Also, A magisterial inquiry has been ordered by DM Aligarh to probe the matter and submit the report with in 15 days
Aligarh district magistrate CB Singh has also sought a report from the principal of JNMC on the incident. Talking with media, Singh said, “A detailed report has been demanded from the principal of the medical college. Further action will be taken after the report is received.”
On Friday, a video of two unidentified patients, with severe head injuries, lying tied to their beds in the emergency ward of JNMC was widely circulated on social media. Doctors at the hospital said they had to be “restrained” for their own safety as the beds did not have any side rails. They had feared that they would fall off from the beds in their semi conscious state.
According to chief medical officer SH Zaidi, the duo was brought to the hospital in a critical condition on Thursday by a home guard on March 28 at around 1 am. One of them succumbed to injuries on Saturday. The second injured man has been identified as Bhupinder.
Principal, JNMC, SC Sharma said, “Bhupinder is responding well to treatment and showing a marked improvement.” A team of doctors was attending to him and now, two of his relatives were with also with him, he added.
