Couple, infant daughter die as truck hits bike in Firozabad

Agra: A couple and their four-month-old daughter were killed after a truck hit their motorcycle in UP’s Firozabad district, police said on Friday. Ajay Kumar (28), his wife Omshree (25), and daughter Tanu were on their way to Etah to attend a wedding at a relative’s place when the accident occurred on Thursday evening.

Police said the truck coming from the opposite direction hit the motorcycle when Ajay was attempting to overtake another vehicle. Jasrana SHO Rajesh Kumar Pandey said the woman and child died on the spot, while Ajay, who worked at a glass factory, succumbed to his injuries during treatment early Friday.

DSP Prem Prakash Pandey said, “Police reached the spot immediately and rushed the victims to hospital. The truck driver fled. A case has been registered at Jasrana police station on a complaint by Ajay’s brother under BNS sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) against the unidentified truck driver. The vehicle has been seized, and further legal action is underway.”
