Police said that the woman, Neha Chauhan, 21, got married to Ankit Awasthi, 26, over a year ago, but her family was not happy with her decision.
The woman’s family had been earlier staying in Noida, but returned to their native village Bhagua Nagla, a few months ago, said police.
The couple who belong to Farukkhabad, came to their native village on Bhai Dooj. They went to Awasthi native village, Sarha, to meet his parents and later decided to visit the girl’s parents in a bid to resolve the animosity.
Awasthi went to his in-law’s house alone and he was allegedly stabbed to death there and the suspects buried his body in an adjacent plot .
Neha, who was waiting for him at some distance from her house, called him up but his phone was switched off. After waiting for him for quite sometime, she reached her parent’s house and inquired about her husband. She told media persons, she was also beaten up by her parents. “However, I got suspicious when I saw them going around the vacant adjacent plot and I informed the police,” she said.
Station house officer of Farukkhabad police station, Vinod Kumar Shukla, said that a sharp-edged weapon was allegedly used to Awasthi. He said an FIR has been registered against Neha’s father Dharmendra Chauhan, her mother and her brother under section 302 (murder) and 201 (Causing Disappearance of Evidence and Giving False Information ) of IPC. He said the whole process of exhuming man’s body was videographed and further investigations are on.
