AGRA: With elections in UP less than six months away, the
Aam Aadmi Party launched its election campaign in the state on Sunday with its Tiranga Yatra and hard selling its Delhi model of free power and quality health and education for UPites.
Criticising the UP government, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodiya said that the Yogi government is being run only on advertisements.
“Neither the children in UP are getting good education nor health facilities,” said Sisodiya adding that no one in the state was safe with law and order being in shambles. He added that AAP, if voted to power, would guarantee quality education, health facilities and employment to people of UP irrespective of their caste and religion.
Rajya Sabha MP
Sanjay Singh, who led the Tiranga yatra, said this yatra had been organized to show the people the difference between APP and BJP’s brand of nationalism. He defined BJP’s rashtravad (nationalism) as providing chapati and salt in mid day meal, dead bodies floating in the river during Covid in absence of treatment, creating shamshan ghat (cremation grounds) in its villages and minor girls being raped in the state. In contrast, AAP nationalism is to provide 300 units free electricity, focus on quality education, opening or mohalla clinics for people to provide better health facilities.
At least 4,000 people holding the Indian flag participated in the Tiranga yatra which started from GIC ground and ended at Shahid Smarak in the city. AAP will also undertake similar Yatras in Noida on September 1 and in Ayodhya on September 14. Later, all 403 assembly constituencies will be covered for taking out Tiranga Yatra.
Slogans shouted during Tiranga Yatra— “Hindu Muslim Sikh Isai.. sab Aapas Me bhai bhai”.. “Bharat Mata Ki Jai''. Party’s Co-cordinator from the state Sudheer Bhardwaj said that this yatra aims at spreading the message that all communities are one and unlike the divisive politics that is being pursued by right wing Hindu parties.
