GANDHINAGAR: The state government has sanctioned a project worth Rs 327.82 crore for the upgradation of Civil Hospital. Health minister Jay Narayan Vyas, in a written reply, said the government has already spent Rs 44.72 crore in the last three years. He was replying to a question asked by Naroda MLA Maya Kodnani. He said that work on one block had been completed while that for two other blocks was in process.
Also, Vyas said the work for the upgradation of facilities in BJ Medical College, Government Spine Institute and Physiotherapy College has been taken up.
He said that work for the first phase has already been completed. About future projects, Vyas said a super-speciality hospital, undergraduate and postgraduate hostels and staff quarters will be taken up in phases.
Vyas also informed that a new building for the trauma centre will be constructed. In a written reply to a question of Sabarmati MLA Geeta Patel, Vyas said staff quarters will have 160 units and 10 new operation theaters will be constructed. Other in-campus projects include renovation of the 180-seat auditorium at the cost of Rs 81.55 lakh, a new building for medical college, construction of a new building for laboratory and construction of block C and D, each of 11 floors.
