Air India Ahmedabad Plane Crash News Live: An Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner, operating as Flight AI171 from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on the afternoon of June 12, 2025.
The aircraft, carrying 242 people including 230 passengers and 12 crew members, crashed in the Meghani area, sparking a massive fire intensified by the plane's heavy fuel load.

US officials have said there is no current evidence to justify grounding Boeing 787 aircraft, after a deadly Air India crash killed over 240 people on Thursday, when a Dreamliner took off from Ahmedabad and crashed into a residential complex just 30 seconds after take-off.
Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and Acting Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) chief Chris Rocheleau said investigators were still reviewing the facts surrounding the incident, reports news agency Reuters.
Duffy confirmed that officials from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the FAA, and representatives from Boeing and engine-maker GE Aerospace would be travelling to India to assist with the investigation.

Ahmedabad Plane Crash Live: JP Nadda instructs BJP workers to engage in relief and rescue operations
Nadda expressed grief over the loss of lives in the accident, stated '"The news of many casualties in the plane crash in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is extremely sad," he said.
The BJP President also said he talked to the Gujarat BJP Chief and State Health Minister Rushikesh Patel over the preparedness.
"Regarding this tragic incident, I spoke to Gujarat BJP State President and Union Minister Shri @CRPaatil ji and the State Health Minister Shri @irushikeshpatel and took information about health facilities and relief work," Nadda said.
"I appeal to all BJP workers to engage in relief and rescue operations and provide all possible help to the affected families. I pray to God to give strength to the bereaved families to bear the unbearable pain and to provide speedy recovery to the injured," JP Nadda said.

An Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner (Flight AI171), en route from Ahmedabad to London, crashed shortly after takeoff on the afternoon of June 12, 2025. The aircraft, carrying 242 people including 230 passengers and 12 crew members, went down in the Meghani area near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, igniting a massive fire due to its heavy fuel load.
Emergency response teams, including fire services, ambulances, police, and NDRF units, reached the site within minutes. While rescue efforts are ongoing, the exact number of casualties is still unconfirmed. The DGCA and a Boeing technical team are expected to launch an investigation.
Flight operations at the airport were suspended, and Indian Railways has deployed Vande Bharat trains to support stranded passengers. An Operational Control Room has been activated in Delhi and Ahmedabad.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, and other leaders expressed grief over the incident. Union Ministers Amit Shah and Ram Mohan Naidu are visiting Ahmedabad to oversee relief measures.
