AHMEDABAD: The rebel BJP candidate from Ghatlodia Sangeeta Bhavsar was allegedly attacked by two BJP women workers while she was campaigning there on Tuesday. Bhavsar has reportedly sustained injuries on her head. Bhavsar, a BJP worker, has formed a Vikas Manch Panel with BJP leader Piyush Patel and Jigar Patel.
The three who jumped into the poll fray as independent candidates are said to be close associates of Naulesh Patel, a supporter of former home minister Amit Shah.

Patel was denied a ticket by the party sparking off resentment among his supporters. At least 10 BJP rebels are in the fray in Ghatlodia as independents.
The three on Sunday had staged an impressive rally in the area which had irked BJP workers and official candidates. The BJP has fielded Sudha Patel, Jatin Patel and Jignesh Pandya. When contacted, Bhavsar claimed that she did not want to lodge a police complaint as it was the internal matter of the party. "I was on the campaign when I received a phone call asking me to come to a particular housing society. On the way, my vehicle was intercepted by Rashmi Patel and her daughter Bijal. Rashmi was the former president of the Ghatlodia nagarpalika. My vehicle was hit by Rashmi and as I fell down, the duo attacked me with sticks."
When contacted Rashmi claimed the allegations were baseless. "I was at my home throughout the day due to family constraints," she said, adding that this was a political drama to gain sympathy.
