GANDHINAGAR: Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today laid the foundation stones and dedicated a total of seven development projects worth Rs 95 crore in Surendranagar city and district.
She performed the ground breaking ceremony of Surendranagar-Dudhrej railway over bridge to be built at a cost of Rs 36.21 crore, providing 20,000 water connections for Rs 3.68 crore, three roads in Lakhtar taluka for Rs 12.03 crore, four roads in Muli taluka for Rs 4 crore and seven roads in Wadhwan taluka for Rs 23.80 crore.
She also dedicated 72-residential units for police built at a cost of Rs 2.77 crore, besides 66kv sub-station at Kherali and Nagra for Rs 8.09 crore. She also launched ‘M Goverance’ Mobile App for Surendranagar Municipality and Dudh Sanjivani Yojna as part of the statewide project to provide milk to infants, in the Lakhtar, Patdi and Dhrangadhra talukas.
Patel took round of the newly constructed structures, talked to policemen. Prominent citizens of the town, people from Patidar and other communities felicitated her with bouquet, mementoes and shawl, rendered songs. They donated Rs 9 lakh towards Chief Minister’s Swachchata Nidhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Patel described roads and bridges as the arteries of development. She reiterated that her government is committed to allocate and implement all round development works in a timeframe, ultimately for the welfare of the citizens.
She expressed her concern at deficient rains in several parts of Gujarat, and at the condition of pilgrims from Gujarat to Amarnath due to disturbance in the Kashmir Valley. Those who spoke on the occasion included Minister of State for Panchayat and Rural Housing Jayantibhai Kavadia, Minister of State for Energy Govindbhai Patel and Collector Udit Agrawal. Those present on the occasion included Rajya Sabha Member Shankarbhai Vegad, Lok Sabha Member Devjibhai Fatepara, Minister Tarachand Chheda, MLAs, Swarnim Gujarat 50-Point Programme Chairman I.K. Jadeja, Parliamentary Secretary, ex-MLAs and other prominent officials.
