AHMEDABAD: In view of the recent spike in coronavirus cases, Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani on Wednesday assured Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the state government was fully alert to take all necessary steps to control spread of the infection.
During a meet with the PM through videoconferencing Rupani apprised Modi about the measures being taken by his government.
Rupani said that the services of ‘Dhanvantari Rath’ and surveillance of Covid-19 patients have been intensified in the areas where coronavirus cases were rising.
At present, 775 Dhanvantari Raths are active across the state, Rupani said.
The CM told PM Modi that stringent implementation of norms such as social distancing, wearing of mask and others are being done in Gujarat adding monetary fines are also being collected from the violators.
The CM said as many as 3,147 contentment zones have been identified in the state. Proper contact tracing has also been intensified with the help of over 4,000 medical teams.
Rupani said the Gujarat is the front runner the ongoing Covid-19 vaccination driver.
The CM informed Moid that sSo far, 22,15,000 people have been administered the first dose of the vaccine while 5,42,000 have got the second dose.
The CM said that 1,50,000 people are being vaccinated everyday in the state. Now, the state government has decided to increase it to 3,00,000 vaccinations per day.
