Govt finalizes riverfront land-use pattern
AHMEDABAD: The state government has passed a notification finalizing the land-use pattern formulated in the latest development plan for the Sabarmati riverfront. The Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (SRFDCL) on Thursday declared in detail the facilities and specifications of civic infrastructure which would come up on the riverfront.
It is on this new development plan that a separate set of general development control regulations - consisting of building footprints, FSI and building-height limits - would be devised for the riverfront.

The road widths on both the riverfront banks have been fixed at 24 meters consisting of four lanes.
Of 203.28 hectares along the riverfront, gardens occupy 13.54% space, open areas take a 18.3% share, public-purpose facilities account for 14.24% of land use, and roads form a major chunk consisting of 21.91%.
"The urban development department did not receive any objections on the new development plan for the riverfront design," said a senior SRFDCL official. "By June 30, the government had formalized notification procedure. On Thursday, an official notification was received from the urban development department."
