Ahmedabad: Feature film 'Neerja' based on air hostess Neerja Bhanot's sacrifice has been made tax-free in Gujarat.
The decision of the state government comes after film's producer Atul Kasbekar and veteran actor Anil Kapoor met chief minister Anandiben Patel on Thursday. The film has been exempted from entertainment tax from Thursday. The government also issued a notification in this regard.

Sonam Kapoor, who plays the lead in the movie, took to Twitter to thank Anandiben Patel. She tweeted, "Thank you government of Gujarat for making Neerja tax free so soon! Thank you for remembering and saluting Neerja! Very very grateful!" She also tweeted: "Thank you so much @anandibenpatel ma'am for making Neerja tax free! We are so so humbled and grateful to the government of Gujarat"
Sonam Kapoor plays the brave Pan Am flight stewardess Neerja Bhanot in the biopic 'Neerja'. Neerja gave up her life to save 359 lives on the hijacked flight. The 23-year-old was shot dead while shielding three children from a hail of bullets.
