Gujarat: Retd IFS officer speaks at GNLU on India-US ties

Ahmedabad: Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) on Wednesday hosted retired IFS officer Ashok Sajjanhar for a talk on "Evolution of India-US Relations: From Trade to Security." As an ambassador Sajjanhar was part of several major international negotiations, GNLU officials said. In his talk, he elaborated on points such as the 2005 civilian nuclear agreement, India's role as a partner to counter China, India's rise as a major economic power, and India's position as the voice of the Global South."The United States will continue to remain a significant partner for India because of the scale of technology, markets, and diaspora linkages between the two countries," he said. He added that while the India-US relationship may no longer be framed as the single most consequential partnership, it will remain an important and enduring component of India's broader strategy of diversified global engagement.
