Ahmedabad: The Gujarat high court on Wednesday directed authorities concerned to file a report on the action taken to deal with the problem of stray cattle on the roads of Bhuj town, in Kutch district.
The court had taken cognizance of the problem last year. The chief officer of the town has been granted time till May 4 to file the report. In February, the HC had pulled up the government after it learnt that the official concerned in Bhuj town was reluctant to file an affidavit in response to the court notice over a PIL complaining about stray cows.
The petitioner in the case, a Bhuj resident, Pooja Joshi, has sought HC directions to the district collector, the civic body, and other authorities to immediately take action against the movement of stray cattle in the city by preparing a comprehensive programme to shift them outside the city areas.
