AHMEDABAD: A couple, posing as uncle and niece, duped a jeweller in Subhash Chowk of gold jewellery worth Rs 10.63 lakh. The duo had earlier purchased jewellery worth Rs 12 lakh from Mahendra Patel, who owns Shree Hari Jewellery and had lodged the police complaint.
"Since Manish Patel from Thaltej and his niece had made such a huge purchase, Patel had started trusting them.

On February 4 and 5, the duo approached Patel saying they had to give jewellery to family members and got jewellery worth Rs 10.63 lakh without making any payment," said a Ghatlodia police station official.
When Patel did not hear from the duo for five days, he called them up and even sent men to the address mentioned in the bill. The phone number and the address turned out to be fake. Police have launched an investigation into the case."We have got the CCTV footage of the man and the woman and have circulated it to different police stations know about their involvement in any such incident in the past," said the official.
