AHMEDABAD: Scribes attending a press conference convened by Sahajanand College management on Wednesday to brief them about the ongoing controversy over admissions to first year arts and commerce, were in for a shock when they discovered hidden cameras filming the proceedings.
Sameer Patel and Jigar Patel, trustees of the college had called a conference to clarify their stand on the ongoing dispute between the management and teachers after the college continued to defy the Gujarat University authorities and refused to admit students in FYBA.

College lecturers have been alleging that the new management, which has a few builders on board, wants to close down the college, which is situated on prime land.
The sting' being carried out on behalf of the college management was spotted by a correspondent when he saw a flash of light from a pen held by a person sitting next to him. When asked, the person identified himself as a journalist. However, he later confessed that he was deputed by the management to film the conference. The trustees removed the cameras only after journalists protested.
Recently, women lecturers of the college filed an application with Satellite police station that representatives of the management constantly filmed them and intruded their privacy.
Prior to the conference on Wednesday morning, about 50 persons, including students and teachers from Sahajanand as well as other colleges were detained by police while protesting against the management stand on admissions.
The trustees said they had no intention to close down the college and were willing to admit students in FYBA. However, college teachers maintain that the management has not admitted a single student despite GU directive.
