AHMEDABAD: Two sisters, one who was married to a man from an affluent family, and another who was forced to live with the couple, have registered a complaint against the man for performing unnatural sexual acts. They say the man would threaten to kill them if they didn’t comply with his demands. The duo had fled from him recently, to escape what they say was mental and physical harassment.
They registered a complaint after the police began searching for them.
According to the Navrangpura police, the man in question is a resident of a society near Stadium Crossroads and he married one of the sisters in 1994. The wife’s sibling started living with the couple when the women’s father passed away a short while later. The man allegedly took advantage of the situation and had an affair with his wife’s sister. The matter came to light when she became pregnant. Police sources said that the family reluctantly accepted the situation and the sisters started living as wives of the man.
The sisters — each had two children — had fled from the house on October 10. Upon their return recently, they approached the Navrangpura police. They said that the man threatened to immolate them or kick them out if they did not submit to his demands. He also physically abused the women, police said.
R V Desai, the inspector of the Navrangpura police station, said that the police had registered a complaint and were searching for the man to record his statement.
