AHMEDABAD: A 30-year-old man was beaten to death behind VS Hospital on Saturday morning. Ellisbridge police arrested two on the basis of a complaint by the deceased’s brother.
According to Ellisbridge police, Naresh Thakor, 24, a resident of AUDA Garib Aawas Yojna in Odhav, had informed police about the body of his elder brother Mahesh on Saturday at 10 am.
Naresh told investigators that Mahesh, a vegetable vendor, left home early in the morning. When Naresh reached his usual spot in Paldi, the accused, Jagdish Parmar, told him that they had beaten up his brother and dumped him behind VS Hospital.
“Naresh rushed to the spot on the Sabarmati riverfront and found Mahesh in a pool of blood near makeshift shanties for construction labourers. He had severe injuries on his head, face and legs. He rushed him to the VS Hospital where he was declared brought dead,” said an Ellisbridge police official.
Investigators said they arrested Nilan Cherya and Sunil Munda, both residents of the same site and working as labourers at a construction site in VS Hospital. Police have also seized the iron bars used to beat Mahesh up.
