AHMEDABAD: India’s largest passenger car manufacturer,
Maruti Suzuki, announced on Tuesday that it would set up an industrial training centre in Mehsana. The Japan-India Institute of Manufacturing (JIM) will be fully operational by August next year and will be able to train 300 every year, including in Japanese shopfloor practices.
The establishment of JIM will mark the collaboration between the governments of Japan and India to create a pool of skilled manpower for the manufacturing sector in India.
The announcement came after a memorandum of cooperation was signed on November 11 between Japan and India. “It will take forward the vision of the two governments to create a pool of skilled manpower in manufacturing in India,” said Kenichi Ayukawa, MD & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.
