AHMEDABAD: Rashmi Patel, a resident of Anandnagar, has discontinued her morning walks. Instead, she has started going for a stroll in the late evening. The sharp rise in temperature has forced her to change her routine.
"Usually, I would go for my walk at 6.30 in the morning and be back by 7.30 pm. But these days, the sum comes up early and the heat makes it unbearable to walk.
So now, I go for evening walks these days because the breeze is cool at that time," says Rashmi.
There are many like Rashmi who have changed their walking routine to avoid the scorching sun. Many people can be seen walking briskly on the footpaths of arterial roads like Naranpura, Satellite and even Ashram Road in the evening around 9.30-10 pm.
The summer season this time has seen hot mornings, hotter afternooons and comparatively cooler nights laced with refreshing breeze. "To avoid the sun, I would have to hit the road at 5.30 am which is too early for me. I have instead opted to walk in the evening. This does not cause much exhaustion as I do not perspire excessively," says Ritesh Hathi, a resident of Naranpura.
