Music for peace concert to mark Vasant-Rajab anniversary

AHMEDABAD: To celebrate the spirit of communal harmony, city-based human rights group, Prashant will host a musical evening on July 1.
This event marks the martyrdom of Vasantrao Hegishte and Rajab Ali Lakhani, two friends who sacrificed their lives to save the people from communal flare-up in the 1946 riots.
Father Cedric Prakash, director Prashant, told media persons on Wednesday, "Through this musical evening, we plan to convey the message of peace and communal harmony to the general public, especially the youth.Various student bands from all over Gujarat will participate in the event including Meghadhanoosh (rainbow) and Ahmedabad based Indi Rock Band. Other organizers for 'Music for peace' are Sauhard, Aman Samuday, All India secular forum, St.Xavier's social service society and Joan Memorial trust.
"The evening is a tribute to the spirit of the young friends. They are the eternal example of Hindu Muslim brotherhood and the youth should be enthusiastic in bringing a change and narrowing the gap between people in society. We hope the event touches the soul of every youngster," said father Prakash.
