AHMEDABAD: Robbers attempted to loot a cash transfer van of
Bank of Baroda, in the busy Gita Mandir area on Wednesday evening. However, the alert gunman of the van raised a timely alarm, which resulted in arrest of one robber, Irfan Malik of Danilimda. The other robber, identified as Mehboob Pathan, managed to escape. Kagdapith police have registered a case of attempt to robbery and are hunting for Pathan.
Police said that when a cash van of the bank was passing through the busy Ajitwadi area of Gita Mandir, two men on a motorcycle came speeding and dashed their two-wheeler into the van. "The guard and the gunmen with the van got out of the vehicle thinking an accident has taken place. However, one of the duo took out a knife and lunged towards the driving wheel of the vehicle," said police officials.
However, as the gunman of raised an alarm, locals gathered on the spot and caught Malik, while taking advantage of the chaos, Pathan managed to escape. "Interrogation of Malik revealed that the duo had planned to drive away the cash van in the melee," said police.
