AHMEDABAD: A wedding celebration in Kheda turned chaotic on Sunday when a competition between two DJ agencies led to severe noise pollution and disruption of the event. The bride's father, a farmer, filed a formal complaint with Kheda town police, alleging that the DJs caused significant disturbance and marred the joyous occasion.According to the complaint, the bride's father had arranged for a DJ operator from Tundel for her wedding. On the other hand, the groom's family hired another DJ operator from Khumravad. Tensions arose when members of the DJ operator from Khumravad parked their system outside the wedding venue and began playing loud music. Despite requests from the bride's family to stop the excessive noise, the crew insisted on showcasing the superiority of their system. In response, the DJ team hired by the bride's family also turned up the volume, leading to an hour-long competition. The complainant noted that the noise was so loud that it could have led to loss of hearing and intense vibrations were felt in the vicinity. The competition resulted in a large gathering of onlookers and a near-stampede situation. According to the complainant, around 2,000 people had gathered, which led to a chaotic situation.
The complainant claimed that he offered to pay Rs 85,000 to the DJ team hired by the groom's side to prevent further disruption, but his plea was ignored as the DJ operator wanted to prove that their system was superior. The excessive noise not only disrupted the wedding ceremony but also violated noise pollution regulations. In his complaint, the bride's father requested legal action against both DJ agencies and their teams for public nuisance and creating a hazardous situation. Kheda town police registered a case of public nuisance and abetment against the two agencies and initiated an investigation into the incident.
