Professor expelled for 'helping' dalit pupil

Ajmer: The Central University of Rajasthan (CUR) has expelled the dean student welfare and professor Ram Lakhan Meena stating decision of the council. The Federation of Central University Teachers Association expressed concern on the issue.
Professor Meena said that his illegal expulsion came just because he supported a Dalit student who was expelled from the university on wrong reasons.

The federation of teachers that whatever happened was wrong. "He worked as a students' welfare dean and therefore his duty was to help students," said a professor.
Meanwhile, Meena claimed that a letter was handed to him stating that as per the decision of council of the university he was terminated from his job. "I have moved to the court because this is not the process of termi nation as there were no charges, no enquiry and no memo against me," added Meena.
Meena, who hails from a tribal region, said that he understands what it takes for a Dalit student to pursue higher education.
"I have helped Jonwal, a scholar, who was expelled from the university and now facing consequences," added Meena.
He said that he also went to the court against the improper selection on teaching posts in the university. No authority came out to comment on this issue. The meeting of executive council of the university held on August 10 and letter was handed over to Meena on the very night at his home.
The issue came out with the charges by Umesh Kumar Jonwal who accused professor Jagdish Ullahs Jadhav (research supervisor and HoD social work department) and associate professor Atique Ahmed of harassment and criminal conspiracy against him leading to his expulsion from the university.
