ALLAHABAD: Allahabad Municipal Corporation has made arrangements for conducting the election of the executive council on Monday. The election is being conducted as the term of the six members of the executive council is expiring.
Talking to TOI, SL Yadav, legal advisor of AMC said that the process of the election would start right from the morning. Nomination of the candidates would be done from 10.00 a.m.
to 11.00 a.m., while voting would take place from 12.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. After counting of the votes, the results would be declared. In the election, about 80 corporators of the city, three MLAs and four MLCs would participate in the election.
It is pertinent to mention that there are about 12 members of the executive council of Allahabad Municipal Corporation. The term of six members of the council expire every year. The members whose term is expiring this year include Athar Raza Ladley, Aquil-ur-Rehman, Nihal Kumar, Sushil Yadav, Habeeb-ur-Rehman and Umesh Dwivedi.
The political parties have also decided to field their candidates for the executive council election. BJP has decided the name of Anita Yadav as their candidate, while SP has selected Mohd. Muslim and Athar Raza Ladley. Congress has decided to field Akhilesh Kumar Singh, while BSP has not opened its card till now.
