Lawyers to resume work today
Prayagraj: Lawyers of Allahabad High Court continued to boycott judicial work on third day on Tuesday to protest the recent cane charging on their colleagues in Hapur.
However, keeping in view the high court’s order dated September 4, 2023, the Allahabad high court bar association (HCBA) on Tuesday resolved to resume work from Wednesday.
In a letter, HCBA has requested the chief justice and other judges not to pass any adverse order on September 6 in the cases listed before the court.

The HCBA also condemned the attitude of the police and administration towards the lawyers and demanded stern action against those cops who are behind the lathicarge on their colleagues in Hapur.
Police had allegedly lathi-charged lawyers on August 29 when they were protesting the registration of a case against a woman advocate and her father around a week ago.
A division bench of Allahabad High Court had on September 4 directed the state government to include Hari Nath Pandey, retired principal judge, family court, Lucknow as a member of the special investigation team (SIT) constituted to probe the incident. Initially, the SIT had only administrative and police officials. In addition, the court had on September 4 directed the SIT to conduct the enquiry and its report before it in a sealed cover at the earliest.
Besides, it directed the SIT to submit an interim report by the next date fixed, which is September 15, 2023.
The court also directed the superintendent of police (SP), Hapur to ensure that the complaint lodged by the advocates is duly registered and investigated as per law.
