ALLAHABAD: Polio can cause permanent disability in a child and it is the responsibility of every parent to ensure that their child is given polio drops, said religious heads at the conclusion of a daylong workshop on polio eradication organised by UNICEF and district authorities here on Tuesday.
In a perfect example of social harmony, heads of different communities including Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and Hindus who gathered together at a single platform said every child should be given polio drops tosafeguard the health of the coming generation.

They also appreciated the steps taken by the government in creating awareness on polio eradication.
Stating that it is a part of their social responsibility to make the masses aware about the magnitude of this dreaded disease, religious heads including Bishop Isidore Fernandez, Dr Shami Gauhar, Narendra Giri, Nasir Faqri and Sardar Ajit Singh reiterated their resolve to fight polio by educating the common man.
