Woman arrested for brandishingillegal weapon in social media post

Prayagraj: A 28-year-old woman was arrested by Pratapgarh police on Sunday after her photograph posing with 0.32 bore pistol went viral on social media.
The woman, a resident of Jahanabad, had obtained the illegal weapon from a history-sheeter identified as Shubham Singh, as she was fond of posing with weapons.
SP (Pratapgarh) Dr Anil Kumar told TOI that the woman, while working as a private insurance agent in Kunda, came in contact with the history-sheeter and left the job.
He added, "The photograph of the woman posing with an illegal weapon went viral on social media on Nov 25, following a case as registered under section 3 and 25 of the Arms Act."
The police team on Sunday arrested the woman and recovered the illegal weapon near Purwa Turn on Hathigaon-Lalgopalganj Road, said the SP.
The arrested woman told the police that Shubham Singh had captured her photograph with the weapon. She also confessed that she was fond of pistols, so she asked for the weapon from Shubham. Later, when her relationship with him became sour, Shubham uploaded the photograph on social media.
The police said that they are probing the case thoroughly and are looking for the history-sheeter.
