ALLAHABAD: Members of the local unit of the
Aam Aadmi Party formed by anti-graft crusader
Arvind Kejriwal filed a complaint with George Town and Daragunj police stations against use of polythene banners and hoardings by
Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders to promote visit of chief minister on Saturday. The visit was cancelled as the CM's helicopter did not land because of bad weather.
Party leaders Pankaj Gaur and Satyam Rai said publlcity material including banners, hoardings and flags with party symbol put up by SP leaders to welcome state chief minister were in violation of the Allahabad High Court's Uttar Pradesh Polythene Act 2000.
Campaign material made of polythene and put up at all important crossings of the city where the chief minister was scheduled to inaugurate a flyover was in violation of court order and defeated the ongoing campaign against use of polythene in the city, said members of Aam Aadmi Party. The leaders urged police to ensure removal of the hoardings, flags and banners and demanded action against persons involved in the incident.
Around 120 persons have been enrolled as members during the ongoing membership drive of the new party and they include people from all sections of society, informed media in charge Aakash Agarwal.
