Police said the arrested gang members were seasoned offenders who were involved in bike thefts in neighbouring Karnataka as well.
TIRUPATI: Palamaner sub-division police arrested seven inter-state vehicle lifters and recovered 26 stolen bikes from multiple locations on Tuesday. Palamaner DSP CM Gangaiah told reporters that following a spike in bike theft cases at Gudupalle, Kuppam, Ramakuppam and other parts of the Kuppam constituency over the last few months, special teams were formed to nab the accused. One such team arrested seven thieves identified as T Vinay Kumar (21), V Ekambaram (20), M Muniraju (20), K Lakshman (20), B Santosh (22), K Meghanath (24) and K Ganesh (27). Palamaner DSP CM Gangaiah said the gang members were seasoned offenders who were involved in bike thefts in neighbouring Karnataka as well. "Several cases have been registered against them at multiple police stations in the past," he added.
