Six factory workers hospitalized after inhaling toxic gas at a camphor factory at Anantapur
TIRUPATI: About six workers fell sick and were hospitalized after they inhaled toxic gas at a camphor factory near Singanamala mandal in Anantapur district on Friday.
The workers, who were cleaning up reactors and other machinery at the camphor factory earlier in the day, felt suffocated a choked after they inhaled pungent odour.
Four other workers who noticed and went to their rescue also felt uneasy after inhaling the toxic gas and all the six workers fell unconscious.
Upon seeing the six persons lying in a state of helplessness, fellow workers rushed to the spot and brought them out of the reactor. The six were immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital for first-aid.
Later, they were moved to govt general hospital at Anantapur for further treatment. Medical teams have ensured oxygen supply into their lungs to bring them out of the state of unconsciousness.
