BATHINDA: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday held a protest at Bathinda against the Punjab government accusing it of facilitating the demolition of thermal plant and leasing out hundreds of acres of its land to corporate houses at Rs 1 per acre.
Score of party workers, led by MLAs Baljinder Kaur and Rupinder Kaur Ruby, headed towards Manpreet Badal’s office, but were stopped by the police when they tried to cross the barricades.
Later, the AAP leadership and workers to stage a dharna.
MLA Baljinder Kaur said earlier Sukhbir Singh Badal had forced the shutdown of
Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Plant, to appease private operators, and now Manpreet Badal, contrary to his promise to protect the thermal plant, was hell bent on demolishing this heritage project and doling out its land worth hundreds of crores to corporate houses for peanuts.

Congress government has left the previous government far behind in promoting land mafia. MLA Rupinder Kaur Ruby said Bathinda thermal plant could have served till 2031.
